There are three different types of fires;
- Ground Fires - Burn organic material in the soil just beneath the surface. They burn by glowing combustion.
- Surface Fires - These types of fires exhibit a flaming front and they burn leaves, fallen branches, and other combustible materials on the surface.
- Crown Fires - Hottest and most intense. These fires are very difficult to control. They require strong winds, steep slopes, and lots of fuel to keep burning. Crown fires burn the top layer of foliage on the tree.
